Days Of Innocence

Updated on December 31, 2021

Life is harsh, life is tough
And whatever we do it's always not enough
I always get so frustrated
Thinking how life is so overrated
Reminiscing about the past
And how those days never did last
There was hope but it didn’t made sense
During the days of our innocence

But those days have long been gone
And I continue to struggle on
Living life day by day
While I slowly waste away
Why do I continue to fight
All these days, and all these nights
Once life was fun tho it never made sense
During the days of our innocence

One day Sam was all alone
From work did his dad come home
The dad was angry, the dad was yelling
How Sam constantly was failing
The dad then beat him, and when he was done
He yelled at Sam, "You’re no longer my son!"
Then it suddenly all makes sense
That's the day you lose your innocence

I don't want to end on such a note
Let me tell you how you can cope
Cry your tears and scream out loud
But don't be bitter because you're proud
That bitterness will be toxic
What occurs is you'll be sick
It will become worse and worse
Your bitterness becomes a curse

May I suggest to pray to Jesus
He's the one who can bring you freedom
You won't like how you got so dark
So uncorrupt your bitter heart
Don’t let yourself be like Sam's dad
Don't let yourself become so mad
Be taught how to love once more
Unto others you can adore

You can make it all make sense
You can return to being innocent
