The True Enemy

Inspired by Numbers 25 & Matthew Henry's commentary While the Israelites were camped at Acacia Grove To defile themselves the men willingly chose Seduced by Moabite women and their deities Making the Lord angry and release His fury Rapport with the wicked is more harmful than enmity It is our immoral desires that is the true enemy Giving into worldly interests and its pleasures Forgetting to put the Lord at our core and center Let us execute His vengeance in zeal and faith To remain in His good graces and holy estate So God may make a special covenant of peace And His divine favor upon us may increase God punishes the wicked not with a rod But with swords exposing their profane facade Punishing those who tempt others to fail While His righteousness will always prevail

The Blessings from Balaam

Inspired from Numbers chapters 22-23 The king of Moab brought him out       of the eastern hills  Bringing him out to curse Jacob       with his divination skills  But how can he condemn       whom God has not condemned  Seeing them from the cliff tops       are the people God defends  They live by themselves       set apart from other nations  Constantly blessed by God      from generation to generation  Who can count Jacob's descendants       so vast and numerous  If only our lives could be like theirs       dying as the righteous  Rise up Balak and listen      Hear him, son of Zippor God is not a human      He does not reconsider  God has chosen to bless       and Balaam could not reverse it No misfortune was in His plan     ...

Balak & Balaam

Inspired by Numbers chapter 22 & Matthew Henry's commentary After Israel defeated the Ammorites They went on to face the Moabites King Balak feared he would be devoured So he sought another to be empowered But Balak paid with unrighteousness Calling upon Balaam's services If you seek things out that are wicked Then it shows your heart is insipid Balaam may have had a great reputation Even with God be in communication But even if you can hear from God You can still be nothing but a fraud For we can be baited with pride and ambition Be seduced with power like a corrupt politician So do not judge others by their own words For God really knows what their hearts serve May decline   the requests of those He supports  Yet grant the desires to those He aborts Giving them up to the lust in their hearts From His everlasting love do they depart  He may not restrain us from immorality  But neither spare us from its calamity  Miraculously show us His displeasure  An...

More Than Conquerers

Inspired by Matthew Henry's  commentary  on Numbers chapter 21 Before our march to the Promised Land We may find ourselves in enemy's hands But let us look thoroughly to the Lord Our only way to keep moving forward So instead of Arad, we have Hormah As the enemy's sins are enormous God will bring about their destruction His love for His children brings protection But as we continue on our journey We can be impatient and be in a hurry Then complain about the Lord's provision Bringing about the Lord's derision The serpent comes back to bite at our heels Making our grievances his meal Our very lives does he greedily steal Making us look up so we can be healed Look up and see the serpent of bronze Do not fear death that corresponds The venom may stir up our sinful passions But only the Lord can bring salvation Do not forget and always remember When God blessed us with living water Our expectations should be tempered And only rely on His Grace and His Favor Wicked men tr...

Grace In Place of Irrationality

Inspired by Numbers 20:14-29 &  Matthew Henry’s commentary We can send out ambassadors  For generosity from our neighbors  Ask with politeness  Just for some kindness  All for some simple favors  But can be met with irrationality  People who see us with inhumanity  They become unreasonable  Making the task infeasible  Simply because of their jealousy  Sometimes we face uncalled for reactions  The aftermath of past interactions  Being met with hostility  Instead of civility  Now we’re dealing with the infractions  But what about our Great Provider  The One who makes our burden lighter  His directions we discard  Insulting our God So consequences will be acquired  When He then calls for our passing  Will we obey the Everlasting  Humbly accept our demise  And say our goodbyes  The results of all our relapsing The repercussions to disobedience  All the times we we...

The Waters of Meribah

Inspired by Numbers 20:1-13 A generation will pass and people forget  The danger they were in while in God’s debt They will become thirsty and soon rebel Blame leaders for how things gotten sterile  Complain again just like their parents  Nagging has become their impairments  So they whine against their ambassador  To get what they need from the Provider  Yet their negativity became contagious  Making leaders become outrageous  Defy the Lord and get audacious  Heedless of how He was so gracious Why do we look to ourselves  Think we don’t need God and rebel When we always fall and stumble  That is why we need to be humble

The Purification Water

Inspired by Numbers chapter 19 & Matthew Henry’s  Commentary “COME AND BRING OUT A RED HEIFER  A PERFECT ANIMAL WITHOUT DEFECT THE SINS OF THE PEOPLE IT SHALL ACQUIRE  BURN IT TO ASHES FOR FULL EFFECT  “THE SUFFERING THROUGH FIRE IS A SACRIFICE TO SATISFY MY JUSTICE FOR DISOBEDIENCE  THIS IS THE ULTIMATE COST AND PRICE  BETWEEN OURSELVES TO INTERMEDIATE  “THE BUTCHER AND INFLAMER WILL BE UNCLEAN AS WELL AS THE ONE WHO PICKS UP THE ASHES  SO THEY MUST WASH THEMSELVES PRISTINE  SO THE PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER FRACTIOUS  “A CONSEQUENCE OF SIN IS DEATH SO TOUCHING A CORPSE IS DEFILING  THE LAW CANNOT BRING BACK YOUR HEALTH  SO NEW LIFE AND HOPE I WAS COMPILING  “MIX THE ASHES WITH FRESH WATER THIS MIXTURE IS YOUR PURIFICATION  THIS WILL ATONE FOR SIN’S SLAUGHTER  A SYMBOL OF OUR SACRED RELATION”

Pride’s Rebellion

Inspired by Matthew Henry’s commentary on  Numbers chapter 16-18 Be careful of pride and ambition  Causing humanity great division  Vulnerable to sin’s pollution  Entering God’s dissatisfaction  Make unjust charges against each other  Making prejudiced claims of dishonor Forgetting when He displayed His power  Therefore neglecting Him for the answer  Come forward and bring your complaints  You are free to speak without restraint  The Fair Judge is here to regulate  And settle this egotistical debate  The only One who is truly righteous  Who can adequately s olve any crisis  Whose verdict is worthy of compliance  All praise and honor to Him in the highest  Though honorable He can be jealous  His institutions are very precious  Our treatment of them can be careless  As our attitude towards Him is reckless  So He declares His final ruling  His divine wrath is all consuming  The evi...

A Pleasing Aroma

Inspired by Genesis 8:20-22 & Numbers chapter 15 Special thanks to this  article  and Matthew Henry’s  commentary After Noah made his burnt offering  God’s heart started softening  Because smelling the pleasing aroma  Made the sacrifice sweet ambrosia  “I WILL NEVER AGAIN CURSE THE GROUND  THE WICKED THOUGHTS WILL BE ALLOWED  ALL LIVING THINGS WILL BE ENDOWED  BECAUSE MY GRACE WILL BE AROUND” So after defiance and rebellion  We are not entitled to heaven  Upon us we deserve God’s wrath  Because we won’t follow His path  Like incense let our atonement rise Appease His anger from our demise  As we offer up devotion  Remembering we are His chosen  So let us not be presumptuous  But obey God with humbleness  For He deserves His holy day In honor to His holy name  Use every means to refresh our memories  Using them as temptation remedies  So to holiness they may correspond  ...

The Lord’s Pardon

Inspired by Numbers chapters 13 & 14 “SEND OUT MEN TO EXPLORE THE LAND IN PREPARATION FOR WHAT I PLANNED  INVESTIGATE THE TERRITORY  THIS IS TO BE YOUR EPIC STORY  “COME AND SEE THE VALLEY OF CLUSTER BE AMAZED AT THE AWE AND WONDER  THE LAND FLOWING WITH MILK AND HONEY  WHERE MY GRACE FLOWS ABUNDANTLY” But instead of blessed we are skeptical  And with our doubts become susceptible  Thus find the promise unacceptable  Then His provision becomes forgettable  Weep and moan about the mission  Completely lose all ambition  Then decide to resist and waiver  Ignoring the Lord’s strength and favor  That is why we need intercession  Someone to quell the Lord’s aggression  Preserving the sacred connection  Making sure we’re still His possession  Be grateful for the Lord’s pardon  He doesn’t see us as a burden  Loves us too much to see us destroyed  Keeping us close to be overjoyed

Complaining to God

Inspired by Numbers chapters 11 & 12 How soon we can forget  About His holy provision and grace  As hardships make us upset Causing us fatal mistakes  We can crave the finer things  Of fancy stuff and luxuries  But we should yearn for higher things And savor His discoveries  Remember when He provided manna And fed the poor and hungry We should praise and cry “Hosanna!” And bow before Him humbly  He saved us from our captivity  Yet we complain about our misery  That the load we bear is heavy  And we’re better off if buried  Then the Lord says “GATHER ME SEVENTY THEY MUST HAVE A STRONG IDENTITY  THEY MUST LOVE OTHERS SINCERELY  I’LL BESTOW THEM MY SPIRIT FREELY” Always remember humility  Free from pride’s liability  God speaks through dreams and visions  Not through arrogant religions  Do not let yourself get jealous  For we can become rebellious  Get comfortable with disrespect  And wi...

Leaving Sinai

Inspired by Matthew Henry’s commentary on Numbers 10:11-36 Leaving the mountain in holy devotion  Starts with knowing His constitution  Reducing oneself to a lower position  And moving towards sacred perfection  Will you give yourself to God’s direction  And listen to His stable instructions  Having no fear of any course corrections  Until we reach the final destination  Won’t you share this great rejoicing  The amazing love that God is voicing  Of fellowship that makes life worth living  Come and receive what God’s supplying  Invite cherished ones to this gathering With living water is He baptizing  It is time for the great scattering  As enemies are defeated and He is rising

The Cloud & the Trumpets

Inspired by Numbers 9:15-10:10 & Matthew Henry’s Commentary  When your sanctuary is set up  A cloud will descend and then cover A symbol of His holy presence  And at night a fiery anchor  When the cloud lifts up and moves Go after it in pursuit  When it stops and then settles  Find your rest and bear good fruit  Make the trumpets out of silver As they’re blown all must gather  This is an alarm to every sinner It’s time for victory and be winners The trumpets will stir you into battle  To make the wicked shake and rattle  It is time to make the world unravel  And with its disobedience grapple  The cloud will lead you to your destination  When you arrive sound the celebration  The trumpets evoke our covenant relation  So b urn with passion and anticipation

Dedication While in the Wilderness

Inspired by Numbers 7:1-9:14 and  Matthew Henry’s commentary Even when everything is in place Be prepared to make adjustments  We won’t always occupy the same space  Serving God in our benevolence  Even the leaders must be reverent  During the times of great rejoicing  For we must pay our severance  In order to partake in the rejoining  Bring your offerings on each day  And do not be in such a hurry  Submitting to His will and way As we cherish Him all equally  So light the lamps,       as the Morning Star shines The darkness cannot bare His grace As sin can’t exist with the Divine  Brokenness cannot see His face Now purify the chosen priesthood  Those who represent God’s firstborn  From rebellion did they withstood  To sacred duties must they perform  Always remember when He delivered you  Because after a while we can easily forget  Then observe things with a dimmer view  ...

Purity & the Nazirite Vow

Inspired by Matthew Henry ’s commentary on Numbers chapters 5 and 6 Wisdom from above arrives as pure So removing the polluted must be assured  To make sure the encampment is secured  So His holy love continues to endure  If the people’s faith is their stability  They need to avoid their own iniquity  Trespassing each other is a liability  For it keeps us away from His affinity  Do not meddle in forbidden pleasures  The consequences have bitter measures  For God sees all our hidden treasures  And we’ll be accountable for lustful errors Will you take the Nazarite vow of separation? Detach from the world  to show God full devotion  No pleasing the body as it’s under obligation  So you can encounter His more intimate affection  To the Lord may your sins be confessed to  So the Lord may protect and bless you  May the Lord smile down and  be gracious  Because His mercy makes Him forgive us  May He ...

Tally the People

Inspired by Matthew Henry’s commentary on Numbers chapter 1-4 From the people  number the amount of warriors For it is the end of His moratorium For too long  has the world ignored its Superior And decided to stay in their delirium   Who amongst us will distinguish themselves Against temporal things will they rebel  Excelling at maintaining sacred belongings  Propelling forward God’s outpouring  We are called to spiritual battle  So encamp around the tabernacle  Content to stay in our allotted place As we rest in His glorious grace  Remember when He spared the firstborn  So service unto Him must we perform  Because to those whom God finds work for He will provide help and He will bolster  All men and women are the Lord’s by creation  And we are His children by His redemption  Everyone should know their own post and duty  As we are made to follow Him faithfully

Psalm 68

Sing praises to God As the wicked perish in His presence  Sing praises to God As the godly enjoy His closeness  Sing loud praises to Him  Who rides upon the clouds  Sing loud praises to Him  Rejoice as He surrounds       Father to the fatherless       Defender of the widowed       Comfort in the loneliness       Repayment for debt owed      Leading Your people out of slavery      Marching through dry wasteland       Making Your people full of bravery       Abundant rain at Your command  Praise the Lord  Praise God our savior  Our God is a God who saves  Praise the Lord  Praise God, life-giver Rescuing us from our graves  Sing to the One Riding across ancient heavens  Sing to the One Whose voice thunders in the horizon  Tell everyone about His power  Majesty upon His nati...

Fishing Epilogue

Inspired by John 21 Jesus began his ministry       in the region of Galilee  And it was right in the sea       that disciples fished bitterly  They fished all night but did not catch anything  The fish wouldn’t bite as they were unfeeling  Then Jesus instructed them and they listened  He had inducted them into their  commission  The net couldn’t contain all that were caught  As fish couldn’t remain in their comfortable spot Come and find breakfast is waiting  Be inclined to the food he was cooking  Are you ready for the questions he will ask Can you carry the burdens that he tasks  Do you love him more than anything  Or will you shun him to be self-seeking  If you choose love feed his lambs and sheep  Be graceful like a dove and gather what you reap Don’t go around as lazy, illiterate men Stay in His Spirit daily and be fishers of men Companion  poem

The Teacher Has Risen

Inspired by John 20 Come and see the high contrast  They’ve taken the body mass See the linen lying there Of this you will want to share Do you recognize the Teacher  Go and tell all his brothers  He ascends to our God Do not have to stay on guard  “Peace be with you”  as he visits  He will send the Holy Spirit Love and grace without limit  Holiness we now inherit  Don’t be faithless any longer  Embrace this divine encounter  It is wickedness he has conquered  Making hearts and minds much stronger

Smoothened Rock

Based on Revelations 3:7-12 Once upon a time there was a rock Jagged with no clear edges  Assigned to guard the city gate lock Determining who progresses  It had jostled around in its post Shoved and pushed against the others  It persevered against the revolt While barely able to recover The king noticed its weaknesses  But also acknowledged its obedience  Said liars yield to its buttresses  While it is loved for its abidance The others would be tested soon  Deciphering who should or shouldn’t stay  The rock now smooth and attuned  Seasoned enough to know the Way What it went through was very painful  However it never became ungrateful  To the blessed king it remained faithful  Once jagged but now named graceful  Mostly inspired by Andrew Walker’s  message  (from 1:15:31 to 1:45:00)

Gabbatha & Golgotha

Inspired by John 19 Who do you declare as your king Whose judgment do you concede to  Does this lord have fair rulings  And whose verdict can be appealed to  What if someone was found not guilty  Going against the choice of the city Even if their hearts were all filthy  Their spirits unwell and unhealthy  When the judge sits on the judgment seat  Is not their verdict final and complete? Even if they want the accused released  Mercy and compassion faced their defeat  The king of the Jews must be neutralized  Daring to offend religious leaders  Destined to surrender and be crucified  Saving the souls of his believers  The divine plan has been finished  The separation has been bridged Evil’s power has been diminished  Union with God now encouraged

John 18

We came from the garden where sin began  And with the serpent came the fall of man From an olive tree grove a snare was laid It was there the Son of Man was betrayed  “Who are you looking for?” It was asked  “Jesus the Nazarene” and the enemy attacked  Jesus spoke  “ I AM he”  making them gasp Guardedly was the teacher caught and clasped  “Everyone knows what I have been teaching  Ask those who heard me what I had been speaking  If I said anything wrong then you must prove it  But if I’m speaking the truth then do not abuse it” However the accusers had no validation  They still took Jesus forward to prosecution  Needing to justify their conceited collusion  And to push ahead the desired execution  Pilate asked if he was the king of the Jews  And then asked later “What is the truth?” God and sin are not compatible  Remember His kingdom is imperceptible  Also inspired by Matthew Henry’s  Commentary

A John 17 Inspired Prayer

Glorify the son  as he gives glory back to You To gain eternal life  is to comprehend and value You The Son had returned      to the glory he shared           before the world began He revealed the Father      to those who belonged            and follow His commands  We were always the Father’s      given to the son            and kept His word  Accepting the message       knowing a nd believing            what we had heard  We wait in this world  as the son departed       coming back to You  Protect us Lord  by Your name’s power       unifying us anew  The world hates us  as they hated the son      because we don’t pertain  Make us holy  teaching us Your word      so that in You we...

Suffering to Joy

Inspired by John 16:5-24 A woman suffers when giving birth  As new life enters this fragile earth  Then the pains of labor are soon forgotten  As the mother sees her baby untrodden  The world may rejoice while we grieve  As the teacher suffers from disbelief  Not knowing that freedom would be achieved  With grace and ample joy being received God is coming to judge and convict Which side will you be in the conflict  The teacher will leave but we are equipped  An Advocate comes righteously to assist

A Branch of the Vine

Inspired by John 15 & Romans 1:21-25 The world will hate you  If you follow the way The world will negate you  If you don’t believe what they say  They enjoy the dark and confusion  Claiming to be wise but are utter fools  Unsatisfied and disillusioned  Deciding it’s better to make up the rules  Yet the world doesn’t choose us God does to produce good fruit  Doing whatever we ask through Jesus  As long as we’re attached to the root  He is the vine, we are the branches  If we remain in him we are disciples So do not wither and made into ashes  Bear good fruit and bring forth revival  Lets obey his commands and remain in his love He told us these things to be filled with his joy Lets cherish each other like he does from above  Producing good work  under his employ

Advocating

Inspired by John 14 Do not let your hearts be troubled  Just trust in the Holy Trinity  Living does not have to be a struggle  Just believe in God and give Him glory  God will always advocate for us Not abandon us to be orphans  The Father, Spirit, and Jesus  Will always bless us with fortunes  Preparing a place in the heavenly realm  Not leaving us guilty and condemned  It will be our spirits being overwhelmed  Can you now see and comprehend? He is the way the truth and passion  No one comes to the Father without him Making us be full of satisfaction  Because we are now free from sin The Holy Spirit leads into all truth Teaching and reminding us of everything  So to whom or what will you choose  A sacred gift, or to become self-seeking?

From Contamination to Purified

Inspired by John 13:1-17 To live is to become contaminated  Infected by filthy viruses  Therefore we must get vaccinated  From he who performs miracles  He stoops low to wash our feet  His sovereignty he kept discreet  Uncleanliness he will defeat  To make our souls become complete  Unto other’s feet we should wash Being humble with our pride squashed Since unbelief makes our hearts harsh Don’t you want to be part of his entourage? To be with him is to be sanctified  Making our lives become justified  From contamination to purified  God’s holy wrath now satisfied  Don’t keep this good news to yourself  To the world may you be compelled  Sharing how to obtain abundant wealth  And to be able to have eternal health  Also inspired by Matthew Henry’s  Commentary

Anointing Before Death

Inspired by John 12:1-11 Before the celebration is the appointing  The filling of a basin for the anointing  A pleasing aroma for those around  Unlike Jonah when he almost drowned  We can try and run from God’s commands Turn away and flee from what He planned  Because we don’t agree with His compassion  Having cold hearts and a negative reaction  So like Jonah, Judas also had contempt  The welfare of others he would exempt  Despite witnessing God’s grace and mercy There were people he deemed unworthy  We will always have the poor among us  Doesn’t excuse our mood and smugness  How we spend our time is important  Don’t be deceived by the wicked serpent  So pour the perfume and prepare the body The time is coming when it’ll be buried  Crushed by the weight of disobedience  It is for us that he intermediates  And like Lazarus we can be raised  From the curse of death can we be saved  Free from ph...

See God’s Glory

Inspired by John 11:1-44 What do you believe? That there is a final breath  That we will lose our strength  That there is a limit to health That everything ends in death But can death lead to glory  Revealing something pure and holy That all the stress and anxiety  Can be the very things we bury In darkness there is danger  Wickedness of strangers  But the light of the world       is a good and loving savior  Humanity is in trouble deep For we have fallen asleep  From our graves we wail and weep  Because it’s life we wish to keep  Living doesn’t have to mean infection  He said he is the life and resurrection  As death can bring our redemption  From the grave to heavenly ascension  Cast the stone aside from the entrance  Lay your burdens down in repentance  As we declare our independence  From physical limits to transcendence

Know the Voice

Inspired by John 10 Beware of thieves and robbers  Who do not come through the front door  But know the voice of honor  Who leads you to good pastures  A hired hand will run      when confronted by grave danger  But the good shepherd sacrifices his life       so the sheep prospers He sacrifices his life  to take it back again  He does this voluntarily  to save us all from sin “My sheep know my voice  and they follow me  They sing songs and rejoice  following jubilantly  “I give them all eternal life       and they will never perish  Seeing me through holy eyes       and know that they are cherished” It is written that we are children       of the Sovereign Most High  The good shepherd is the Son of God      and through him will we abide So let us all, by free choice, pledge our loyalty  Choosing to know h...

Spiritual Blindness

Inspired by John 9 “Who has healed you? You who were blind since birth  Is it one we’ve deemed To be of unholy worth “Our steadfast laws m ust be obeyed Our sacredness must be displayed  This is what we want portrayed  Our unholy masquerade  “Because we deem what is right and wrong  We determine what does belong  We don’t care that our relationship  With the Creator has been withdrawn” Do you believe in the Son of Man? Do you believe in the redemption plan? Do you believe he heals with holy hands? The One from heaven, the great I AM  He entered the world to render judgment  To heal the blind and fulfill the covenant  It’s the guilty he finds repugnant  To the indifferent he brings adjustment Who is the one that can heal you? You who lives in the darkness  You can now be brought to the light  If you believe in Lord Jesus
