THE PERFECT SACRIFICE


You spoke and the world was born
"Do not sin" to us You did warn
For this world is but a copy
Only You are pure and holy

But we still sought our own glory
Only to fail and be in mourning
To forgive was Your intent
And blood was needed to repent

Yet sacrifices You don't desire
Offerings are not required
Blood itself can't remove sin
Only You free us from within

Blood is only temporary
Sacrifices done unceasingly
It is not the perfect cleansing
Our filthy sins it's just reminding

Sin You don't want to remember
Breaking Your heart is not the answer
The covenant that was made
Could not be perfectly obeyed

Sacrifice should bring holiness
Bringing us into repentance
Instead of remembering
Sin You want to be forgetting

So to redeem us completely
A pure sacrifice was necessary
And no one is as pure as You
Another covenant made anew

You paid the ultimate price
You were the perfect sacrifice
Your will I've written in my heart
Your love for us I will impart

Inspired by Numbers chapter 19 & Matthew Henry’s  Commentary “COME AND BRING OUT A RED HEIFER  A PERFECT ANIMAL WITHOUT DEFECT THE SINS OF THE PEOPLE IT SHALL ACQUIRE  BURN IT TO ASHES FOR FULL EFFECT  “THE SUFFERING THROUGH FIRE IS A SACRIFICE TO SATISFY MY JUSTICE FOR DISOBEDIENCE  THIS IS THE ULTIMATE COST AND PRICE  BETWEEN OURSELVES TO INTERMEDIATE  “THE BUTCHER AND INFLAMER WILL BE UNCLEAN AS WELL AS THE ONE WHO PICKS UP THE ASHES  SO THEY MUST WASH THEMSELVES PRISTINE  SO THE PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER FRACTIOUS  “A CONSEQUENCE OF SIN IS DEATH SO TOUCHING A CORPSE IS DEFILING  THE LAW CANNOT BRING BACK YOUR HEALTH  SO NEW LIFE AND HOPE I WAS COMPILING  “MIX THE ASHES WITH FRESH WATER THIS MIXTURE IS YOUR PURIFICATION  THIS WILL ATONE FOR SIN’S SLAUGHTER  A SYMBOL OF OUR SACRED RELATION”

More Than Conquerers
