Our Inheritance

Inspired Matthew Henry’s commentary on Numbers chapters 26 & 27

A generation may have passed
But their pretense has amassed
Their challenges still remain
All the burden and the pain

Will you choose to continue the trauma
Distance yourself from nirvana
Or will you stand with the truth
And separate from the abuse

Understand that life isn’t fair
Not everyone will get their share
But follow the One who is not pompous
Who will always fulfill His promise

He who knows what is equitable
Who can say what is charitable
Who always knows what is for the best
And for our success He does invest

Death will come for us all
It causes even the mighty to fall
Everyone’s fate can’t be forestalled
But death has One whom it exalts

The One to whom death admits defeat
The One who sits at the mercy seat
Treats everyone with adoration
Imparting love to generations

Do not repeat our parent’s mistakes
Don’t let pride keep you in disgrace
Humble yourself and be accountable
Our adversity isn’t insurmountable

Learn from what happened before
Be in reverence to the Lord
Remember His Grace so prevalent
Passing it down as our inheritance
