Holy Eyes

Oh no, here we go again
I am ashamed to call you my friend
Why did you mess up just like that?
There is no way to ever go back

How can you be so very foolish?
I cannot forgive you for your own sins
You have messed up for the very last time
You have committed the ultimate crime

I then do things I shouldn't do
I go ahead and become a fool
I get wrapped up about myself
Oblivious that I too need help

I scream and moan about sinfulness
How wicked and bad this world really is
But I'm just as bad as they all are
My own sins I have ignored so far

I'm just as bad as my own parents
I'm judgmental and relentless
I've become so quick to condemn
I've failed to show Your love for them

You look down with mercy and grace
Compassion is written all over Your face
Because You so loved the entire world
Your plan of salvation was then unfurled

That whosoever shall believe in You
Shall live eternally just like You do
For You did not come to judge Your creation
Instead You came to bring Your redemption

You told me to love You and then other people
But why does that task seem so very feeble?
Why is it so hard to love You completely?
When wickedness and sin comes much more easily?

Abandoned to shameful things we desire
New ways of sinning we openly conspire
We knew God but wouldn't worship Him as such
We worshiped things we could see and we could touch

We traded the truth about God for a lie
We sentenced ourselves to perish and die
But God loves us too much to just let us go
Quick to forgive that's all we need to know

We need to repent of our shamefulness
Wrap ourselves in His infinite embrace
Let us love Him first heart, mind, and soul
Then to each other we can console

Let us see each other the way God sees us
Let us see through His eyes full of holiness
Let us love God first then love our neighbor
That is how we can get along with each other
