I Want to Know


I wake up in the morning
Ready to start the day
Yet, I feel my soul is yearning
For something to make me say

I want to know
Deep in my soul
That You are God

This restlessness keeps stirring
And I am overwhelmed
I constantly keep searching
But my soul will not be stilled

I want to know
Deep in my soul
That You are God

I go to church and pray
Read the Bible everyday
Sing my hymns and songs
But this restlessness goes on

I talk to my pastor
Conversate with my friends
But the questions always linger
The restlessness doesn't end

I need to know
Deep in my soul
That You are God

I shout it on a mountaintop
"Show Yourself to me!
I want this restlessness to stop
I want to be at peace!"

Weak and tired, I fall to my knees
But my soul keeps calling
For something to put my mind at ease
For something to bring fulfillment

I lift my eyes up
I see Your creation
Numerous stars and galaxies
Beyond all amazement

I look down below
I see Your creation
Billions of people wandering around
Billions of souls in need of salvation

"YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO ASKS
YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO SEEKS
BILLIONS OF PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU
ARE OUT THERE TRYING TO KNOW ME

"SOME LOOK TO THE STARS
SEARCH OUT IN SPACE
BOTH NEAR AND FAR
THEY SEEK THEIR FATE

"IF THEY ONLY KNEW
HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM
IF THEY ONLY KNEW
HOW I'D TAKE CARE OF THEM

"BUT THEY LOOK ELSEWHERE
TO SEEK FULFILLMENT
THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE
ABOUT MY HOLINESS

"I WANT TO KNOW
DEEP IN THEIR SOULS
THAT THEY LOVE ME

"NOT SOME ORGANIZATION
WITH ITS RULES AND REGULATIONS
NOT SOME EXPERIENCE
FULL OF HOCUS-POCUS AND MYSTICISM

"DO YOU LOVE ME FOR ME
SINCE I LOVED YOU FIRST
CAN YOU NOT SEE
MY WRATH I REVERSED?

"MANKIND HAD BEEN CURSED
YOU HAD BEEN DIVORCED
JUDGMENT AT ITS WORST
SEPARATION ENFORCED

"THEY NEED TO KNOW
DEEP IN THEIR SOULS
THAT THEY LIVE IN SIN

"LOOK UP TO THE STARS
SEE MY CREATION
I KNOW EACH ONE BY NAME
STILL I LOVE YOU ABOVE THEM

"LOOK DOWN BELOW
SEE MY CREATION
SEE HOW THEY LOVE EACH OTHER
ABOVE MY OWN ADORATION

"DO YOU KNOW
DEEP IN YOUR SOUL
HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU?

"I SENT MY SON
PRECIOUS JESUS CHRIST
TO BE THE PERFECT ONE
A LIVING SACRIFICE

"TO RETURN THE WORLD TO ME
I TURNED MY BACK TO HIM
HE PAID THE PRICE ON CALVARY
TO SAVE THE WORLD FROM SIN

"DO YOU NOW KNOW
DEEP IN YOUR SOUL
HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU?"

I take a breath
Try to take it all in
That I was dying
I was living in sin

"But I tried to hard"
I reason to myself
"To be a good person
I do not deserve hell!"

"BUT HAVE YOU LOVED YOUR NEIGHBOR MORE
AND WHEN HAVE YOU SHOWN LOVE TO ME?
ARE ALL YOUR WRONGS ACCOUNTED FOR
HOW HAVE YOU MADE YOUR PEACE?

"WHY HAVE YOU SEARCHED BOTH FAR AND WIDE
FOR ANSWERS THAT YOU SEEK?
YOUR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS YOU TRY TO HIDE
WHY CAN YOU NOT GIVE IT TO ME?

Is that all You ask?
Is that all I have to give?
To lay all my burdens down
And in You I can now live?

Is that why my soul is restless
Is that why I'm at unease
I cannot give my life to Him
I cannot give up on my sin?

But He gave up His life on the cross
To seek and to save those who are lost
He loves me most above the universe
Life is His gift, because I am cherished

If I truly know
Deep down in my soul
That He loves me

How can I then
Give up on Him
And reject His mercy?

His grace is enough
So I will live in His love
My life I surrender

My soul is alive
Because of Your sacrifice
I now live in Your splendor

I now know
Deep in my soul
That You are my God!

I want You to know
That all of my soul
And my life is Yours forever

More Than Conquerers
