Jesus in Gethsemane & Before the Council
Inspired by Matthew 26:31-75; Mark 14:27-72; Luke 22:31-71
Jesus said
"Father, Your ways are unstoppable
For You nothing is impossible
But do I need to give this offering?
Can You take away the suffering?
The pain and torment I want to decline
But let Your will be done, Lord, not mine"
Judas led a crowd as he was remiss
As the Son of Man was betrayed with a kiss
Jesus asked "Am I some dangerous revolutionary?
Did you have to come with swords to arrest me?"
Jesus was accused of being a scoundrel
Standing trial before a rigid council
Any wrongdoing could only be implied
And He remained silent making no reply
"Are you the Messiah?" Was the question
"I AM coming on the clouds of heaven"
Three, the number of the Trinity
Of perfection and of divinity
The same number of times
of being with Jesus would Peter deny
But by dying a hero's death
to the Father's will did Jesus comply
