Jubilee

Inspired by Leviticus 25-27

On the seventh day God rested
It was a holy day so God blessed it
Then the seventh year was a year of Sabbath
This was to be observed in the land we inhabit

We are to work hard every year
This is to demonstrate our holy fear
To carnal minds we may seem absurdly
But the path of duty is the path of safety

The Joy of the Lord is our strength
It adds to all our holy depth
For we cannot grasp the breadth and length
Of God's love for us that is so complex

For He provides every perfect gift
As long as wickedness we do resist
For He is our God and we are His people
If we don't obey Him there'll be upheaval

Immorality will make us miserable
Making us angry and quite irritable
So don't hold on to your iniquity
But be blessed by God's ubiquity

Let us spare ourselves from His fury
And may all we own be for His glory
Let us devote ourselves to our God
Holding Him up in righteous regard

For He frees us from all our slavery
That kept us chained to our depravity
No more being held in contempt
For He has freed us from all our debt

So may all our sins be confessed
As we no longer are oppressed
It is in Him that we are blessed
So be still in Him and find your rest
